This work is from my series Fish Flock which also incorporates concepts of my barcode series. I began exploring visuals of brands and symbols recognized globally. In this painting, I use the recognizable design of Burberry which merges with another visual layer in this work of the barcode, representing consumerism in society. The fish in the painting represent groups of people swimming and moving in a similar direction, with these designs and symbol giving them a badge seen and recognized by others, creating a social identity. We are all a part of the modern-day and the brands around us. All of which influence our collective identities.
