Laurine Malengreau creates textile paintings with hands full of silk and wool. Layering these materials and giving them a particular strength brings her a primal joy. By extension, she is intimately convinced that art expands the good and the beautiful.
In search of vital momentum, she crafts bold and shimmering works, infused with organic accents and chimerical roots.
Works that speak to you.
“My stages of life in numerous countries, my apprenticeship with artists since childhood, my training as an art historian and my attachment to luxurious materials have led me to create pieces in wool and silk, imbued with a powerful energy.”
Situated between Eastern and Western cultures, her work reflects on the pure gesture that springs from moments of introspection.
Through her original creations, Laurine Malengreau continues the great tradition of wall hangings in an innovative and contemporary way.
Her work is represented by a Belgian gallery and is included in the permanent collections of the Rothko Museum in Latvia and the Tsenpo Museum in Tibet. She is also the recipient of prestigious distinctions, including the Luxembourg Artistic Merit Award.
